What is official, and what is a scenario

The 8th Central Pay Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 but has not reported. No new pay matrix or fitment factor exists yet, so every figure this tool shows is built from the fitment factor you choose, applied to your current basic pay - not a leaked or predicted official number.

Good for: testing scenarios, understanding how a fitment factor changes basic pay, personal planning. Not for: loan applications, official documentation, or anything that requires a government-issued figure.

Status source: 8th Central Pay Commission (constituted by notification dated 3 November 2025). Reviewed 20 September 2026.

What this calculator does

  • Applies a fitment factor you choose (1.8 to 3.0) to your current basic pay to estimate the new basic pay
  • Rounds the new basic pay up to the next โ‚น100 and shows the rounding
  • Compares current and estimated pay side by side: basic pay, DA, HRA and the monthly total
  • Shows the monthly and annual increase, in rupees and as a percentage
  • Starts DA at 0% on the estimated basic pay, an assumption stated with the result
  • Optional HRA at 30%, 20% or 10% of basic pay for X, Y or Z class cities
  • Estimates arrears from an implementation date, with or without HRA
  • Labels every figure an estimate: the 8th Pay Commission has not reported, so no new pay scale is official
  • Runs in the browser; what you type is not sent to or stored on a server, and a summary can be shared on WhatsApp

๐Ÿ”Why This Calculator Exists & How We Built It

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 but has not reported yet, so no official new pay figures exist. This calculator applies a fitment factor that you choose to your current basic pay, so you can see how different assumptions change the estimate.
The default fitment factor of 1.84 is only a starting scenario. It is not a forecast, not an official figure and not a suggestion of what to expect. Change it to any value from 1.5 to 3.5.
For comparison, the 7th CPC applied one fitment factor, 2.57, to every pay level from 1 January 2016. That multiplier was applied to pay in which dearness allowance had already built up over the years, so it did not mean pay received rose by 157%. The 8th CPC may use a different approach.
Where the facts on this page come from:
โ€ข 8th Central Pay Commission site (constitution and status)
โ€ข Press Information Bureau (PIB) notices on the 7th CPC, including the Cabinet decision of 29 June 2016
โ€ข The arithmetic in this calculator, shown step by step below
What this is not:
Not official. Not a forecast. Not a substitute for a government notification. The 8th CPC could be completely different from any scenario tried here.

๐Ÿ›๏ธWhat is 8th Pay Commission?

A Central Pay Commission reviews the pay, allowances and pensions of central government employees and recommends changes. The government then decides what to accept. Past commissions have come roughly ten years apart.
Quick timeline:
โ€ข **2006:** 6th CPC pay revision, effective 1 January 2006
โ€ข **2016:** 7th CPC pay revision, effective 1 January 2016 (Cabinet approval on 29 June 2016)
โ€ข **3 November 2025:** 8th CPC constituted. It has not reported
What a commission can look at:
โ€ข Basic pay and the pay matrix
โ€ข Dearness Allowance (DA) and how it is treated when pay is revised
โ€ข Other allowances
โ€ข Pensions
What the 8th CPC will decide on each of these is not known. This page and the calculator do not predict it.

๐Ÿ”ขThe Fitment Factor: What Multiplies Your Paycheck

The fitment factor is a multiplier: current basic pay times the fitment factor gives the new basic pay.
Simple example:
Current basic pay: โ‚น50,000
Fitment factor: 1.84
New basic pay: โ‚น92,000, rounded up to the next โ‚น100
A fitment factor is not a percentage rise. A factor of 1.84 does not mean an 184% increase; it means the new basic is 1.84 times the old one. How much the pay in hand changes depends on how DA and allowances are treated afterwards.
What happened in 2016:
The 7th CPC used a single fitment factor of 2.57 for all pay levels in the pay matrix (PIB). PIB's summary put the increase in pay at 16% and the combined increase in pay, allowances and pensions at 23.55% over the "business as usual" scenario.
Your number:
The calculator accepts any fitment factor from 1.5 to 3.5. Trying a lower and a higher value shows how much the estimate depends on the assumption. No value here is an official figure.

๐ŸงฎHow We Calculate Your New Salary

This is what the calculator does with your inputs:
Step 1: Current pay
Your current basic pay, and your DA as a percentage of basic pay. Example: basic โ‚น50,000, DA at 61% is โ‚น30,500, so current basic plus DA is โ‚น80,500.
Step 2: New basic pay
The current basic pay is multiplied by the fitment factor, then rounded up to the next โ‚น100. Example: โ‚น50,000 x 1.84 gives โ‚น92,000.
Step 3: DA after the revision
The calculator models DA as 0% on the new basic pay, with a new DA announced separately. That is an assumption for this tool, not a decision by the Commission.
Step 4: HRA (optional)
If you include it, HRA is a percentage of basic pay: 30% for X cities, 20% for Y cities and 10% for Z cities. Example in an X city: โ‚น15,000 on the current basic and โ‚น27,600 on the new basic.
Step 5: Monthly and yearly totals
New basic + DA (0 in the model) + HRA if included. The difference from your current total is the monthly change; times 12 is the yearly change. Example without HRA: โ‚น11,500 a month, 14.3% of current basic plus DA.
Step 6: Arrears (optional)
The monthly difference (without HRA) times the months between the implementation date used and today. The default date, 1 January 2026, is a placeholder, not an announced date.
Pay level is not used in the arithmetic: the calculator multiplies your basic pay by the fitment factor you enter. It does not calculate tax, deductions or take-home pay.

๐Ÿ’ตArrears: The Money You Get For Past Months

Arrears are the difference between the new and the old pay for months that have already passed, if a revision takes effect from an earlier date.
How the calculator works it out:
Monthly difference x number of months from the implementation date to today. It shows a figure only when today is after the date used.
What decides whether arrears exist:
โ€ข the government accepting the Commission's report and notifying new pay scales
โ€ข the date from which the revision applies, if any
โ€ข how DA and allowances are treated
None of these has been decided for the 8th CPC. For reference, the 7th CPC revision applied from 1 January 2016, while the Cabinet approved it on 29 June 2016 (PIB).
Limits of the estimate:
The implementation date is one you can change, and the rules the government finally sets may differ from the calculator's arithmetic.

๐ŸขWhat's Your Pay Level? (And Why It Matters)

Pay levels are the rows of the Pay Matrix introduced by the 7th CPC. The matrix has levels from 1 to 18, and each level has its own stages of pay.
How to find your level:
โ€ข Your latest pay slip, which usually shows it as "Level-6" or "PL-6"
โ€ข Your appointment or promotion order
โ€ข Your department's accounts or HR section
Why the calculator does not ask for it:
The calculator multiplies your basic pay by the fitment factor you enter, so pay level does not change the result. Knowing your level helps you read the official pay matrix once it is published.

โ“Real Talk - Honest Questions & Real Answers

Is this calculator accurate?
The arithmetic is exact for the inputs you give it. The inputs, especially the fitment factor, are assumptions, because the real numbers do not exist yet. Treat every result as an estimate.
What is it good for?
โœ… Testing different fitment factors ("what if it is 2.0 instead of 1.84?")
โœ… Seeing how the pieces of the arithmetic fit together
โœ… Understanding how a pay revision is calculated
What is it not for?
โŒ Loan applications (lenders need official documents)
โŒ Formal or legal purposes
โŒ Anything that needs a government-issued figure
Will there be arrears?
Not decided. See the arrears section above.
When will the new pay be notified?
The Commission was constituted on 3 November 2025, and news reports say it has 18 months to report (around May 2027). After the report the government still has to decide and notify, so no one can give a date.
What happens to the numbers I type?
The calculation runs in your browser and what you type is not sent to GoldC. If you press Share, the summary goes to the app you choose. Refresh the page and the inputs are gone.

Quick answers

Is the 8th CPC fitment factor official?

No. The Commission has been constituted, but it has not reported a final fitment factor or pay matrix. This tool lets you test assumptions, not official figures.

How is estimated basic pay calculated?

The calculator multiplies your current basic pay by the fitment factor you enter and rounds the result up to the next โ‚น100, as shown in the tool - the same rule the Pay Matrix itself uses, never down.

Does this show take-home salary?

No. It estimates basic pay, HRA and selected arrears. Deductions, tax, allowances and your department's final rules can change actual take-home pay.

Can I use this estimate for a loan application?

No. Banks and employers require official documents. Use this calculator only to explore personal scenarios until an official pay notification is issued.
