About GoldC

Free calculators for gold, for UK pensions and pay, and for India.

GoldC is a personal project, built for education only. It is not financial advice, and it is not a price quote. Every figure it shows is an estimate worked out from the numbers you type in.

The aim is to keep things simple, fast and clear, so anyone can see how a gold price, a jewellery bill or a pension estimate is actually put together — no sign-up, no ads, and no numbers pulled from anywhere you cannot check.

GoldC was previously called Gold Bill Check. The bill checker is still here, as the Gold Bill Check; the site now also covers gold weight and purity and gold loans that work in any country, aUK section built on HMRC's rates (pension salary sacrifice, student loan repayment, bonus tax and pro rata salary, with a guide to the BR tax code), and pay and pension tools for Indian government employees.

Who runs GoldC

GoldC is an independent project published under the name GoldC Team. It is not a bank, a lender, a jeweller, an accountant or an adviser, and it is not connected to HMRC, GOV.UK or any other body whose rules it describes. The UK tools are written for people in the UK: they use UK English, pounds, and HMRC's published rates for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

How the numbers are worked out

Every calculation runs in your browser, from values you enter. Nothing is fetched live, so there is no gold price hidden in the background — you supply the rate, and the page shows the arithmetic. The worked examples on each page are produced by the same code as the calculator, so they cannot drift apart from it.

Rules and rates that come from an official source — GST, DA, NPS and pay-commission figures — are shown with that source and the date they were last checked. They are reviewed at least every six months, and whenever a rule changes.

For UK tax, National Insurance and student loan figures, the calculators are checked against HMRC's own published test data, and the thresholds come from GOV.UK pages that are linked on each tool with the date they were read. The full method is on themethodology page, and the rules for how pages are written and reviewed are in theeditorial policy.

Some drafting is assisted by software. A person checks every figure, rule and source before a page is published, and a page's review date changes only when a person has reviewed it again.

Found a mistake?

Please report it. A wrong figure on a money page is worth fixing quickly, and corrected pages get an updated review date. You can reach GoldC from the contact page, which also explains what happens after you write.

How GoldC makes money

It does not. There are no ads, no affiliate links and nothing is sold. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it happens.
