Which tola is meant?
This page uses the Indian tola: 180 troy grains, or 11.6638038 g. Jewellers in India, Nepal and Bangladesh use the same weight, and in Bangladesh it is called a bhori (vori); in Indian jewellery talk "one tola" and "one bhori" are used interchangeably.
Other tola weights exist outside these markets. Some regional markets use a larger "market tola" of about 12.5 g. If you are buying or selling in another country, confirm the tola weight with the jeweller before you rely on a conversion.
A tola and a troy ounce are not the same thing: a troy ounce is 2.6667 tola. International gold prices are quoted per troy ounce, while Indian prices are usually quoted per 10 grams.
